Gun Mount

A good gun mount is essential if a shot is to be successful.  Positioning the gun correctly in the shoulder and face ensures that the gun points where you are looking.  It follows that if the gun is positioned incorrectly it will point anywhere but where the eyes are looking.  During mounting, the hands must work together to point the gun at the target, neither hand being allowed to dominate the movement.  The head must remain still, not dropped down to meet the stock.  The shoulder is pushed slightly forward to meet the gun, which touches face and shoulder simultaneously.  With the gun correctly mounted the eye is positioned slightly above the rib.
